Large-scale simulation of the atmosphere is the key to integrating the important processes in the climate system. The increase in greenhouse gases is the primary driver of the global climate system. Against this backdrop, changes in climate owing to changes in atmospheric chemistry and aerosols have been assessed. We have employed the GISS General Circulation Models II and III and the MPI Hamburg General Circulation Model ECHAM, as well as the global chemical transport model GEOS-Chem. Current studies are directed toward assessing future climate changes on atmospheric chemistry and aerosols and how changes in trace gases and aerosols will influence climate.
